FAQs

How can therapy help me?

Life can be overwhelming for any individual at any given time. Therapy offers a resource for those needing support through a difficult period, be it caused by an internal struggle, loss, family conflict, academic concerns, or career uncertainty. With the support and guidance of a licensed professional, therapy provides a safe place for you to explore distressing thoughts and emotions. The simple act of unburdening yourself to a trusted person can be immensely empowering. Together, we will identify tools to help you not only survive life’s challenges, but actually grow from them.

What is therapy like?

Because everyone has their own needs and goals, therapy will look different for each client. Within the first few sessions, you and I will discuss what you hope to accomplish in therapy, and what type of support would be most beneficial. Some clients feel enjoy structured sessions and “homework” to complete during the week. Other clients would rather sessions be more fluid, such as with traditional talk therapy. If at any point you feel our current approach is not working, I encourage you to bring that up in the sessions so that we can discuss it and make necessary adjustments.

What are your specialties? Who is your client focus?

My areas of expertise include adults who suffer from depression, anxiety, mood disorders, low self-esteem, or who are struggling with life transitions, conflict in relationships or family, or academic concerns.

Additionally, I have extensive experience working with the young adult/college student population, including college athletes.

What is the initial consultation?

I offer all clients free 15-minute initial consultations. This is a great time for you to ask me any questions or let me know of any concerns you have so that we can talk about them. Additionally, if I feel that your concern is out of my scope of expertise, I am happy to provide an appropriate referral for you.

Do you take insurance?

I do! I strongly believe individuals should be able to use their health benefits to contribute to their mental health, just as if you were going to a medical doctor. I currently accept:

  • United Healthcare

  • Oxford

  • Oscar Health

  • Optum

  • I can also provide a Superbill if you choose to use any Out of Network Benefits your plan offers.

If you do prefer private pay, my rates are as follows: Initial intakes (60 minutes) are $175, with every session thereafter (50 minutes) being $150. I do have a sliding scale option available and am happy to discuss it during our initial consultation.
